    Garner Memorial Scholarship

    The Richard Garner Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life of City of Madison Firefighter/Paramedic Richard Garner Jr. who died in the line of duty on April 1, 2018. Richard was not only a great Firefighter/Paramedic and a dear friend to many, but he was a constant fixture within the Madison community, helping and serving in any way he could. The scholarship was put in place to help those who are entering the Fire and EMS fields.

    The Elections Committee met today and counted the ballots that were submitted via US Mail.  The results are as follows: At-Large: President of Local 42: Dan Heitzman won with 80% of the votes. Liberty Bargaining Unit: Luke Pierce won with 72% of the votes.
    Local 801 Annual Food Drive

    The City of Danbury Firefighter's Union Local 801 is again collecting canned and non-perishable foods for the annual food drive to benefit the Salvation Army's holiday basket program and food pantry.  Donations may be dropped off at the following DFD career stations: Headquarters - 19 New St.

    Louie Villanueva Retirement Luncheon

    Local F-147 will be hosting a retirement luncheon to celebrate Firefighter Louie Villanueva's 38 years of Government service on Sunday, December 19th, from 1300 to 1600 at the Waterfront Fire Station (94-2).     1st Annual Mosby Golf Tournament

    November 16th marks the 1 year anniversary of the passing of our friend and colleague, Dale Mosby.  To mark the occasion, the Rancho Santa Fe Firefighters kicked off the 1st Annual Mosby Memorial Golf Tournament at the Del Mar Country Club.  Nearly half of the Local 4349 members showed up to play golf and pay respect to a great man.

    The fire department is no longer contact tracing for the purposes of workers comp. It is incumbent upon the employee to file a claim outlining the circumstances of their exposure.   This means that the employee needs to fill out an injury report if you feel that you were exposed on duty.

    Clubhouse Dr. Confined Space Rescue
    11/10/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Local members and Parker Police Department Officers responded to a Confined Space Rescue at 19600 Clubhouse Drive. A 911 caller reported that a 10-year-old child was trapped in a below ground stormwater pipe behind a metal grate. 33 members from South Metro were dispatched including the Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials Teams.
    Pine Drive Structure Fire
    11/10/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 4:14 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Local members responded to a reported fire inside the Compass Christian Fellowship Church, located on Pine Drive in Douglas County. A 911 caller from inside the building observed flames and smoke in a bathroom and evacuated the building. When members arrived, there was no smoke visible from the exterior, but smoke conditions were encountered inside.
    Peoria St. and E-470 MVA with Extrication
    11/10/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 12:54 on Monday afternoon, Local members and Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic collision with a person trapped at South Peoria Street and E470. Upon arrival, members found 3 vehicles involved including a SUV on its side with the driver unable to escape on their own. Members secured the vehicle and removed a portion of the windshield, then assisted the driver out.

    East Standford Cir Structure Fire with Parties Trapped

    At 10:08 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, a 911 caller reported a house fire with a person trapped inside on East Stanford Circle in Arapahoe County. At the same time, Local members were also working to control a brush fire nearby, just southeast of Eaglecrest High School. A members from Safety 35 was first to arrive at the house fire and observed smoke coming from the second floor.
